1. Step-by-step method — My 7 optimization tips
Tip #1 — Water temperature 18-22 °C (Paul)
My first reflex: take water out of the fridge 10 min before the cycle. At 5 °C, DPD efficiency drops by 12%. At 22 °C, you reach the peak. Room temperature water = +250 average PPB over 30 measurements.
Tip #2 — Fill to 80% max (Paul)
Many fill to the brim. Error: electrolysis needs air volume to evacuate generated oxygen. Fill up to 80% (engraved mark). +5% efficiency and zero splashes at startup.
Tip #3 — Double cycle for bottles > 500 ml (Paul)
The cell is calibrated for 250-300 ml. If you fill 500 ml (max capacity), run 2 consecutive cycles with a 30 sec pause. Avoids thermal losses + full efficiency.
Tip #4 — Drink within 90 seconds (Paul)
My personal test: after the cycle, I open, I smell (slight ozonated odor), I drink. H₂ dissipates at -50% in 15 min. Drink the whole amount within 90 seconds for maximum benefit.
Tip #5 — Low-mineral spring water (Paul)
I use Mont Roucous, Volvic, Montcalm (dry residue < 200 mg/L). Hépar or Contrex water saturates the cell. Optimum water = 50-200 mg/L dry residue.
Tip #6 — Preventive descaling every 30 cycles (Paul)
I log my cycles in iPhone Notes (5 sec/day). Every 30 cycles: vinegar descaling for 15 min. Cell preserved 30% longer vs. no preventive maintenance.
Tip #7 — Test DPD on the 1st of each month (Paul)

2. Common mistakes
Error #1 — Cycle x2 on the same water without changing it. Not useful. The second cycle on the same water only increases +500 PPB max and stresses the cell. Change the water for 2 distinct cycles.
Error #2 — Cycling with sparkling water. Dissolved CO₂ competes with H₂ and acidifies. Still water only.
Error #3 — Adding lemon / fruits BEFORE the cycle. Acidity < 5 pH attacks the membrane. Always cycle pure water, THEN ADD (post-cycle, to drink within 2 min).
Error #4 — Confusing flashing blue LED with solid blue. Flashing blue = cycle in progress. Solid blue = cycle completed, ready to drink. Solid green = stand-by.
Error #5 — Drinking in several sips over 30 min. -50% H₂ at 15 min. Drink all of it in 90 seconds or do another cycle for the rest.
3. FAQ — Your 5 frequent questions
Q1. How many cycles does Paul do per day?
3 cycles: morning (250 ml on an empty stomach), noon (250 ml before meal), 5 pm (250 ml snack). Total 750 ml/day of H₂ water + 1.2 L normal water.
Q2. What is the #1 tip if I only apply one?
Tip #4 — drink within 90 seconds. Single biggest gain. Everything else is marginal optimization compared to that.
Q3. Is there a built-in cycle counter?

Q4. Can the 7-min cycle be shortened?
No. 7 min is the optimized time to reach 9,000 PPB. Shorter = under-dosed. Longer = cell overheating.
Q5. Can the cycle lengthen with cell age?
Slightly. At 3-4 years, some cells are optimal at 8 min. An increase of +1 min compensates for slight catalyst wear.
