We rejected 8% of June production.
In June, the Lyon 7ᵉ workshop produced 175 SPE/PEM cells. 14 were rejected in DPD quality control (8% reject rate).
Main causes: 9 cells below the 9,000 PPB ±5% DPD threshold (faulty factory calibration), 3 cells imperfect platinum-iridium joint visible under microscope, 2 cells poorly bonded Nafion (insufficient tensile test).
The 14 rejected cells go to materials recycling (platinum recovered by our refiner Mitsubishi Materials, value ~€32/cell). Not lost — documented.
The 8% ratio is high for the industry (standard ~3%). That's what makes the 5-year warranty possible: we filter before you see it.
